Debit cards are not the same as credit cards
The cards, which aren't credit cards but often look like them, take money out of a person's bank account when a purchase is made. Despite their growing popularity, many consumer groups recommend limiting their use, or not using them at all, because they don't have the same liability protections as traditional credit cards.
